Exwick Heights Primary School, located in Exeter, approached DFR Roofing to provide an eco-friendly roofing solution, along with waterproofing and leadworks to its series of flat roofs.
Using our expertise in green roof installation and management, we designed a new built-up felt system, which incorporated rigid insulation to provide a ‘Warm Roofing’ solution using Bauder’s innovative waterproofing technology. Together with a sedum finished green roof covering, the roof would not only be extremely durable, but also aesthetically pleasing and kind to the surrounding environment.
The flat roofing areas also received a bespoke tapered insulation solution, designed to encourage efficient water dispersion. The general waterproofing of the roof consisted of a vapour control layer, insulation board and two felt layers, complete with an integrated roof barrier.
To accompany the felt roofing, there was a significant volume of lead capping, claddings, mopstick rolls and flashings, all designed and installed to integrate perfectly within the green roof.
Finally, the application of the sedum blanket provided a beautiful, living, green roof finish, clearly visible from all angles of the school – complete with a 20-year system guarantee.
